CC Library: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."

I finally had the time to finish Pride and Prejudice and Zombies written by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. Let me tell you, the book is a must-read! I'm not sure whether to read this book you need to first read the original Pride and Prejudice, but after reading it, I've found a new appreciation for Austen's most famous novel.

"Such is the accomplishment of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies that after reveling in its timeless intrigue, it's difficult to remember how Austen's novel got along without the undead. What begins as a gimmick ends with renewed appreciation of the indomitable appeal of Austen's language, characters, and situations. Grade A." - The A.V Club.

I agree wholeheartedly with this review. At first, the zombies being there was rather weird, but after a while it just seemed natural. I've always thought that Pride and Prejudice was overrated. I enjoyed Sense and Sensibility much better. But after reading this, I think I may have been mentally challenged when I read Pride and Prejudice, the original. I felt the romance between Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett so much more and everything really gripped me. I don't remember being that way when I read the original. I may need to re-read it to make sure I've read it right. The language was so precious, I love Austen's writing style and I appreciate it much more after reading Zombies. I will definitely re-read the original Pride and Prejudice, right after I read Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. You guys should give this book a read, I'm not kidding. Oh by the by, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is currently being optioned to become a major motion picture. The novel has been translated into 17 different languages. That guarantees awesomeness people.
